At’a boy Nap!
Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli had himself a day in Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics. In the top of the third inning, Napoli stole home to put the Red Sox up 4-1. In the fifth, Napoli hit a solo home run to right-center to make it 5-1.
According to Jon Shestakofsky, manager of media relations and baseball information for the Red Sox, Napoli is the first Red Sox player to homer and steal home in the same game since Rico Petrocelli on September 9, 1967.
